Ernie served overseas during WW II with the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps (RCOC). He was an Honorary Life Member of the Canadian Credit Institute. He enjoyed camping, especially at the National and Provincial Parks. Since the end of the war, Ernie had been interested in Sunnybrook Hospital and, at the time of his passing, he was a Governor of the Sunnybrook Foundation. [Note: Sunnybrook was originally established as a veteran's hospital.1] Ernie never married.33
