Notes for Charles Hilton McKAGUE
Hilton worked on a farm near Rochester NY when young.6 He moved to Winnipeg MB about 1905-6. He worked as a deliveryman for Canadian Pacific Express Ltd., using a horse and wagon. After less than a year, he became an express manager between Winnipeg and Saskatchewan. Later he worked on the route between Winnipeg and Port Arthur ON.27

He was a quiet sociable man who was very good with his hands. He smoked a pipe.27

CHARLES HILTON McKAGUE
Suddenly on February 12, 1970 at his residence, 663 Dudley Avenue, Charles Hilton, aged 85 years. Funeral service will be held in the Thomson Funeral Chapels, Broadway at Furby, Monday, February 16 at 2:15 p.m. The Rev. Dr. George F. Dyker officiating. Interment in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Courtesy parking west of the funeral chapels.
Mr. McKague was born in Castleton, Ontario, coming to Manitoba at an early age. He was employed with the C.P.R. as an Express Messenger for forty-three years, retiring in 1949. He was a member of Crescent Fort Rouge United Church and was a life member of the Canadian Order of Foresters. His wife Hettie predeceased him in 1953. Surviving are two sons, Ernest of Toronto and Walter of St. Vital, one daughter, Mrs. J. Arthur (Marjorie) of Elmwood, five grandchildren and one brother, John of Castleton, Ontario. Flowers gratefully declined.26
