book launch, February 18, 2003
"Menya: an end of life story" is a new book by Morris Wolfe. This book, which Morris wrote about the last part of his daughter's life, was launched at a party at The Enoch Turner Schoolhouse in Toronto on February 18, 2003. It was published by grubstreet books and designed by Menya's brother, Ben Wolfe. June Callwood wrote the moving introduction to the book and also addressed the guests at the launch party. Menya's husband, Pete Bevin, and her brother Ben also spoke. Despite the bad weather and mid-week timing, close to 100 interested readers showed up to help celebrate. To add to the colour of the occasion, there was a display of fabric banners created in Menya's memory. At the end of the evening, these banners were presented to Menya's family and friends as tangible reminders of an exceptional young woman. Menya's good friends Gunnar Wentz and Roben Goodfellow did their usual splendid job of organizing the refreshments. It was a good party, and Menya would have liked it a lot.
As more pictures become available from other sources, they will be posted here. Please refresh your page to see new additions if you revisit.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to Trinity Home Hospice, the people who took such special care of Menya at the end.
