"Many unexplainable differences in data exist in this family. The Nicholas Knapp Genealogy (1953), garbles the information to such a degree that it's use is almost entirely useless in attempting to align this family properly. It states that Timothy inherited his father's farm in 1689 and then cites a birth date of ca1690??? What few records that remain extant make it impossible to fully determine many of the needed facts to put this family together in a proper format. His assigned son Gabriel, b. ca1735, is questionable by birth date, and may well belong to one of the sons of Timothy??? A factual birth record for this Timothy, is not in evidence in any known record.
"This writing will continue to follow the writing in the Nicholas Knapp Genealogy, for posterity only. The earliest confirmable record of this Timothy Knapp, is 1745, when he sells his farm, formerly inherited from his father, to sons Daniel and Amos. He is said to have been living on this farm in 1689, located at Barton's Neck, near Rye, Westchester Co, NY and was in possession of his home Lott at Mill Brook, NY which he is thought to have sold to his son, Moses, who then sold the property and removed to White Plains, NY.
"It has been stated that he married secondly, Alice Adee. No record has been found in support of this claim, and is not indicated in this writing."133 |
