McKAGUE--Donella (Hughes) passed away on February 6, 2001 at the age of 77 surrounded by the love of her family. Donella was born on April 23, 1923 at Hazenmore, Sk. to George and Maggie Hughes, the youngest of eight children. She attended Normal School in Moose Jaw during the war and came to the Hardy area in 1942. She taught at Lyons, Hardy and Caron Schools. In April of 1945 Donella married Stuart and became a homemaker and farm wife. The next years were spent raising their nine children. She said, "I enjoyed every baby." Donella valued education and reading. Her many talents included cooking and gardening. She loved to dance. Her dreams were for her children and grandchildren to become contributing members of society. She valued the 51 years spent as a Sister of the Rebekah Lodge. This lady was an ordinary woman who made an extraordinary contribution. Predeceased by her parents, one sister Pearl, one brother Ross Hughes, in-laws: Florence and Hedley McKague and Myrtle McKague. Donella is survived by her husband, Stuart of 56 years; her children: Donna (Grant) Welke and family: Jill and Jeff Nachtigall; Ross (Brenda) McKagne [sic], Carol (Greg) Leonard and family: Colleen, Kara, Richelle, Stuart and great granddaughter Abby; Judy McKogue [sic], Mark Woodall and family: Matthew Woodall, Michelle and Jeff Stromberg and great granddaughters: Charis and Adina; Dale (Dorothy) McKague and family: Ashley and Jessica; Lonny (Lucianne) McKague and family: Angela, Beth and Taylor; Rick (Susan) McKague and family: Scott and Lisa; Kevin (Ann) McKague and family: Kerry and Nicole; Robert (Margaret) McKague and family: Shaylene sisters: Vera Varley, Florence Fox, Rita Whitney and Belva (Wray) Breadner; brother, Wes Hughes; sisters-in-law: Dorothy Evans, Marion Buckler, Margaret (Harold) Breuer; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and relatives.
