"Norman W. Samis was involved in many positions of public interest in Chase, MI. He donated land for the Samis School in Chase, which is on the Southwest corner of Hawkins Rd. and 80th. He served three years as highway commissioner for Lake Co, Mi. Also was an honored member of the Maccabee order of Chase, becoming a member September 24, 1895. He took an active part in building the Chase Baptist Church, and was always interested in any and every public enterprise that was for the uplifting and bettering of the social and religious conditions of mankind."395 |
