DESOTELLE "Had been residing here 43 yrs--born in Canada "With the death of Mrs. Sophie Gauthier Desotelle, 84 years old, of 206 W. Rock St., one of Marquette's pioneer residents passed away yesterday morning. For nine years, Mrs. Desotelle had been a victim of cancer and she was confined to her bed for the last 3 weeks. "Mrs. Desotelle was a resident of Marquette for 43 years, having made her home here since 1872. She was born in Canada in 1831, and lived there until the time she came to Marquette. Her marriage to Caesar Desotelle was her 2nd matrimonial venture, it having taken place only 7 years ago. "Besides her husband, Caesar Desotelle, who is one year her junior, Mrs. Desotelle is survived by 5 sons and 2 daughters. 4 of the children reside in the city. They are Mrs. T Santamore, Mrs. Felix Durand, Anthony Gauthier and Simon Gauthier. Two other sons, Daniel and Henry Gauthier make their home at Dead River and Louis Gauthier is a resident of Minneapolis. "The funeral will be held, with solemn requiem mass, at St. John's church on Tuesday morning at 8:30. "Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
