| BURIAL: The burial certificate is most puzzling. The register entry issues from Varennes Parish and is signed by Father Morand, vicar at Varennes. It does not give the age or gender of the child or the name of the mother, naming only the father as Joseph Richard. It is not in chronological order, but is between the entries for Jul 5, 1758 and Jul 8, 1758. The note reads (in translation): "Sent to Boucherville to be buried there after having performed the ceremonies prescribed because of the interdiction of the cemetery."109 |
