"The death of Lionel Barrette of Lamarche Township occurred May 18 at Lady Minto Hospital. 66 years of age, he had been suffering a lengthy illness.
"Born in Hull, Quebec, he came to this area in 1920. He was employed by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications for 29 years, until his retirement. Lionel Barrette was a member of the Quarter Century Club.
"He was predeceased by one brother, Wilfred, and two sisters, Blanche and Jeanne.
"He leaves his wife Lucille (Dubeau), daughters Marie Ange of Cochrane, Alice (Mrs. Pierre Thivierge) of Cochrane, Blanche (Mrs. Pat Murphy) of Cochrane, Eva (Mrs. Bert Blais) of Hanmer, Helene (Mrs. Andre Vanier) of Val Theresse, Lise (Mrs. Alphonse Deblois) of Cochrane, and Margo (Mrs. Leon Viau) of Cochrane; sons Laurent, Rosaire, Gilles and Marcel, all of Cochrane; three brothers, Ludger of Cochrane, Rene of Hull, and Jean Marie of London, and sisters Mrs. Alberta Girard of Cochrane, Mrs. Leonie Villeneuve of Hull, Lucia (Mrs. Joe Rouleau) of Cochrane, and Mrs. Clemence Paquin of Hull.
"He also leaves 18 grandchildren.
"The funeral took place May 22 at the Roman Catholic Church of the Transfiguration. Rev. L. Bouillon officiated. The pallbearers were Bert Carriere, Nelson Skidmore, R.J. Andrews, Jim Bonnah, Gordon Kydd and Armand Nerbonne.
"Interment followed at the Roman Catholic cemetery.
