Notes for Lena Maud McGREGOR
After her mother's death, Lena had the main responsibility for raising her brothers William and George, as Ethel moved to Winnipeg and Myrtle was "not too rugged". After her marriage, she cared for her ill father-in-law Robert and later her ill sister-in-law Beatrice. She sometimes helped when neighbours had babies. She enjoyed nature. She liked to read, including difficult books. She borrowed many books from minister and others. She taught herself to play the violin. Lena was a member of Cramahe Baptist Church, and taught Sunday School. She and John left the farm and moved to Castleton ON in 1964.17
